Risk Factors
The risk of breast cancer is due to a combination of factors. Some women will get breast cancer even without risk factors.
- Age. The risk of breast cancer increases with age.
- Gender. Women are at higher risk of breast cancer.
- Reproductive history. The beginning of menstrual periods before age 12 and menopause after age 55 raises the risk.
- Family history
- Previous treatment using radiation therapy
